# Cachejay > Cachejay is a Mac app that keeps track of your workday and gives that context to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and Codex. It captures screen text from the apps you use, call transcripts and coding-agent sessions on the Mac, and organizes everything into a page per project, call notes, a to-do list and summaries of each day, week and month. It's kept in the person's Cachejay account on cachejay.com (secrets masked) so ChatGPT and Claude can use it from any device; agents on the Mac search it over MCP too. ## Key facts - Platform: macOS 26 or later, Apple silicon. No Windows version. - Price: $12/month or $120/year after a 14-day free trial with no card. AI for notes and summaries included. Up to 3 Macs. 20 hours of calls transcribed in the cloud a month (30 per team seat); 10 more hours for $5, one time, on the account page. - Connects to Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex, Antigravity, Windsurf, VS Code (GitHub Copilot agent mode) and Zed over MCP on the Mac. Claude on the web or a phone, ChatGPT on the web (custom MCP servers: Business, Enterprise and Edu; Pro read-only; not Plus or Free, per OpenAI), the Gemini app, and Grok (custom connector at grok.com/connectors) connect to the remote MCP server at https://cachejay.com/mcp and sign in with email. Read tools include search_memory, recent_activity, call_transcript, today, recent_notes, search_notes, read_note, projects_now, people_now, plus search and fetch for deep research; changes to Cachejay data (projects, boards, docs, people, corrections) only when the person allows write access at sign-in. - Sign-in is by email: a one-click link (or the 6-digit code in the same email); no license keys. Signing in on the Mac starts the trial; a subscription bought with the same email joins the account. - Capturing can be paused any time, and the cloud copy deleted any time; it is deleted 60 days after a trial or subscription lapses. - Teams: $18 per seat per month (cachejay.com/app/team). Members choose which projects the team sees (project pages and call notes); screen text stays private. Teammates search shared notes on the web, and ChatGPT and Claude get a team_search tool. - Meeting notes: a notepad opens beside calls for quick notes; the AI writes notes around your points from the transcript (summary, topics, decisions, action items with owners). Title and attendees from the calendar. No bot joins. - With the AI app's own connectors, users can have Claude or ChatGPT update HubSpot, Salesforce, Linear, Jira, Asana, Notion or Slack from what Cachejay recorded. Cachejay itself never writes to those tools. - Screen text is read from apps through the macOS Accessibility API. About once a minute while the user is active and the screen really changed (never while the Mac is busy, hot or in Low Power Mode), Cachejay also takes a downscaled screenshot and reads its text on the Mac with Apple's text recognition. Screen text and screenshot text sync when cloud_sync is enabled, which it is by default. Screenshot files stay on the Mac unless the user enables Upload Screenshots to the Cloud (cloud_screenshots, off by default). Uploaded pictures are kept 14 days in a private bucket and can be retrieved through the web app's Screens page or the remote screen_at tool; their text stays searchable after the pictures expire. Never private apps or windows. The setting screenshots turns screenshot capture off. - Calls in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and FaceTime are transcribed with no bot: the Mac hears both sides; the live transcript is made on the Mac and the finished transcript of both sides by OpenAI's transcription (speakers told apart). No audio is kept on Cachejay's servers. - Never reads password managers, Keychain Access, private browser windows or password fields. - Agents ask before they stop: the ask_user tool answers an agent's question from what the person already said or decided, quoting where it came from; if nobody has settled it, it goes on the person's to-do list with a box to answer, and the agent gets the answer the next time it asks. Claude Code and Codex sessions that stopped to wait on the person show up on the list too, under Waiting on you, and tick themselves off when the person replies. - When a question goes to the person, Cachejay keeps its own guess at their answer and how sure it was, and checks it against what they answer, to measure how often it would be right. The guess is never shown to the agent and isn't used to train AI models. - Agent context: Cachejay is a context layer for AI agents. One memory of your work, shared by every agent you connect, so a new session in Codex knows what you did in Claude Code. More: https://cachejay.com/agent-context - MCP tools on cachejay.com (Claude and ChatGPT on the web, through a custom connector): today, recent_notes, search_notes, search, fetch, search_memory, agent_memory, about_me, recent_activity, call_transcript, team_search, screen_at, projects_now, correct, todos, update_todo, people_now, save_person, save_project, ask_user, read_note, report_progress, boards (list_boards, get_board, query_cards, get_card, list_templates, create_board, update_board, create_cards, update_card, comment_card) and docs (list_docs, read_doc, create_doc, edit_doc).
