Claude Duet vs Cachejay
Duet works in the cloud. Your work happens on your Mac.
Claude Duet checks the apps you connect and gets things done for you. It can’t see your screen, your local files or your calls. Cachejay keeps those, and hands them to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex.

An agent only knows what it can reach
Duet learns about you through connectors: your inbox, your calendar, the tools you sign it into. That covers a lot. It misses the work that never lands in a connected app: the doc you read but didn’t save, what someone said on a call, the decision you made in a terminal, the file on your desktop.
Cachejay keeps that part. It reads what passes through your Mac, writes it into project pages and to-dos, and keeps them current, so any AI you use starts from where you are instead of asking.
When Duet alone is enough
If your work lives in email, your calendar and a few web apps, and you use Claude for everything, Duet may be all you need. Cachejay is for people whose context is spread across a Mac, calls and several AI apps, or who need it for a team.
Questions
What is Claude Duet?
A proactive agent from Anthropic, announced as a research preview on October 21, 2026. It runs on its own computer in the cloud, checks your connected apps every few hours, sends a morning brief and does tasks, asking first before it sends, pays, signs or deletes anything.
Who can use Duet?
US Claude Pro and Max subscribers with a waitlist invite, in its iOS and Android apps or at claude.ai. Team and Enterprise plans aren’t included yet. It counts against your Claude usage limits, background checks included.
Does Cachejay work inside Duet?
Anthropic says Duet uses the same connectors as regular Claude, but hasn’t said whether custom connectors reach it, and we haven’t tested it yet. Cachejay works in Claude on the web, Claude Desktop and Claude Code today. Connect it to Claude.
Can I use both?
Yes. Duet does things for you; Cachejay remembers what you did. They don’t overlap much.
