Get your meeting notes into Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor

Meeting notes are most useful when your assistant can read them while you work: “what did we agree on pricing?”, “draft the follow-up”, “did I do what I promised?”. Here are the three ways to get them there, what each can answer, and how to set them up.

Paste or upload

Every notetaker exports a transcript. Paste it or attach the file, then ask. This works on every plan of every assistant, and for a single meeting it’s often enough:

From this transcript: decisions made (with who decided), action
items (owner, due date if said), open questions, and anything
promised to the customer. Quote the line for each.

The limits: one meeting at a time, nothing about what happened since, and you’re the one who keeps finding and pasting the file.

A notetaker’s connector

Several notetakers now offer connectors for Claude and ChatGPT, so the assistant can search your past meetings. Check three things before relying on one: which plan includes it, whether it covers meetings others recorded or only yours, and whether it works in the apps you use (a Claude connector doesn’t help in Cursor).

They know your meetings well and nothing else. “Did I send what I promised on Tuesday’s call?” needs your inbox and your screen as well.

A memory connector

The third way is a connector to a memory of your whole workday, where calls are one source among several. That’s what Cachejay does: it transcribes Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and FaceTime calls on your Mac with no bot, telling speakers apart on the other side, writes notes with decisions and action items, and files them by project next to your screen history and coding-agent sessions. No audio is kept.

Because the call sits next to everything else, the assistant can answer the follow-up questions: what was decided, whether you did it, and what changed since. See calls for how capture works and Cachejay vs Granola for how it compares to a dedicated notetaker.

Setup by app

  • Claude (Claude Code, Desktop, web and phone): add the connector once; it works everywhere you use Claude. Claude setup.
  • ChatGPT: custom MCP connectors on Business, Enterprise and Edu; read-only on Pro; not on Plus or Free; on the web. ChatGPT setup, or our guide to adding an MCP server to ChatGPT.
  • Cursor and Codex: add the MCP server in settings. Cursor, Codex.

No bot in the meeting doesn’t mean no recording. Many places require everyone’s consent to record or transcribe a call. Tell people at the start, and follow your company’s policy and the law where you and they are.

Prompts to try

  • “What did we decide about pricing on calls this month? Give the call and date for each.”
  • “Draft the follow-up email for this morning’s call, in their words where possible.”
  • “What did I promise people on calls last week, and which have I done?”
  • “Before I build this, check the last call with the client for anything about the export format.”

Questions

How do I get meeting transcripts into Claude?

Three ways: paste or upload the transcript into a chat, connect your notetaker if it offers a Claude connector, or connect a memory app that records your calls along with the rest of your work. The first works for one meeting; the other two let Claude search across meetings.

Can ChatGPT read my meeting notes automatically?

Only through a connector. Custom MCP connectors work on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, and read-only on Pro; Plus and Free can’t add them, so on those plans upload the transcript instead.

Do I need a bot in the meeting to get notes?

No. Some apps record from your computer instead of joining as a participant. Cachejay transcribes Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and FaceTime calls on your Mac with no bot. You still need everyone’s consent where the law requires it.

Can Cursor or Codex read my meeting notes?

Yes, if the notes are behind an MCP server both can connect to. Then a coding agent can check what was agreed on a call before it builds the feature.
